Sonoma Counties. Projects must have been completed since September 1, 2001.

2008 Jury

Mary E. Griffin, FAIA, Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects, San Francisco CA

Mary Griffin is owner and principal of the award-winning firm Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects in San Francisco.

Principal since 1986, she has served as juror for numerous architectural design competitions, including
the AIA National Institute Honor Awards for Architecture, the AIA Honor Award, the AIA California Council Design Awards,
the Sunset Western Home Awards, and the American Wood Council Awards. Her firm's work focuses on site-specific residential
and small-scale institutional architecture, and has won over sixty awards, most consistently over the last two decades.
Mary has also lectured at Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a Masters of Architecture from M.I.T.

Thomas W. Kundig, FAIA, Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects, Seattle WA

Tom Kundig is the winner of five National AIA Institute Honor Awards and arecipient of a 2007 Academy Award in Architecture
from the
American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2004, Kundig was selected as one of eight North American Emerging Architects
by the Architectural League of New York and was elected to the College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
He was a finalist for the 2005 National Design Award for Architecture, sponsored by the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National
Design Museum and he is a recipient of a MacDowell Colony Fellowship. To date, Kundig has been awarded a total of twenty-seven
AIA awards, and over fifty awards total.

 

Kundig’s work encompasses residential, commercial and institutional and is located around the world, from the West Coast to
New York , Canada to the South, and across the ocean to Spain . He is internationally recognized for his sense of the
American West landscape and for his integration of elegant architecture with the exploration and reinvention of parts of architecture
that are overlooked or “forgotten,” such as doors, windows or stairs, as well as for his use of kinetic architectural elements.

Lorcan P. O'Herlihy, AIA Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects, Culver City, CA

Since LOHA’s inception in 1990, founder and principal Lorcan O’Herlihy has sought the opportunity to engage the operative
layers of the urban landscape with respect to spatial, sensory and experiential information.
 

In 2004 the Architectural League of New York selected Lorcan as one of the eight “emerging voices” in the United States.
Lorcan’s commitment to design excellence in commercial, educational and residential projects has earned 34 national and
international awards including seven AIA/LA Design Awards. In addition, his work has been recognized internationally
with a number of exhibitions and has been published extensively.
