Creative Use of Viewports for Drawing Content Management.

In this meeting we will review the many uses of Viewports including elevation, section and detail viewports within a common file, as well as Design Layer Viewport Referencing from an external file.
We will look into the various ways of setting up and manipulating viewports for the best display of drawing information within your file, and ways to reduce repetitive tasks by referencing common drawing elements from a master file through use of referenced design layer viewports.

Presenter Biography:

Peter Thayer – Architect, OAG Architects Inc., Benicia, CA.

Peter has been using Vectorworks/MiniCAD sofrtware for over 15 years, providing residential        architectural services with his firm in Benicia.

Paul Majka – Principal, Paul Majka Architect Inc., San Francisco, CA

Paul is a seasoned professional in Architecture with about ten years of experience with    Vectorworks, and is currently running an architectural practice in San Francisco.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn how to use Automatic Drawing Coordination of sheet and drawing numbers for section viewports and detail viewports.

2. Explore use of the “Create Standard Viewports” and “Create Multiple Viewports” commands to automatically set up views of your model.

3. Discuss the use of Design Layer Viewport Referencing to bring drawing elements from one drawing into another.

4. Learn the difference between Layer Import Referencing and Design Layer Viewport Referencing.
