Thursday, May 18, 2017
Noon-1pm
Free and open to all.
RSVP to events@aiaeb.org.

1 CES LU

Steve Gross, PE of Interface Engineering‘s Building Science Team will discuss the key attributes of façade performance. The presentation and discussion will focus on optimizing energy consumption and thermal comfort by balancing heat gain, heat loss, and daylight availability. The implications of window-to-wall ratio, glazing performance, opaque wall performance, and shading will be discussed in the context of various climate zones and building types. Several case studies, both real-world and hypothetical, will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this program, attendees will…

  1. Gain an understanding of why different climates require different façade treatments.
  2. Learn about the various analyses that can be used to optimize façade performance.
  3. Understand how the optimal window-to-wall ratio changes by climate zone.
  4. Understand how the optimal window-to-wall ratio changes by climate zone.
