Passivhaus Design: Home Tour

Organized by the Committee on the Environment

Join us as Nabih Tahan, AIA gives a tour of his recently, passivhaus concept, remodeled Berkeley home.  The passivhaus concept, does not require a conventional heating system and results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling. The standard is not confined only to house, is not the attachment or supplement of architectural design, but an integrated design process with the architectural design.

RUD Forum: Bus Rapd Transit in Berkeley (and Beyond)

This November, the Measure KK initiative is up for ballot in the city of Berkeley . Join us for a panel discussion about AC Transit’s BRT plan for Telegraph Avenue and the different perspectives regarding how transit can or should be achieved along this corridor. It is our hope that this conversation will help illuminate the potential impacts of how we will develop our transit systems in the future.

Harrison Street Senior Housing: Revit Successes and Challenges for Multi-Family Residential Projects

The Harrison Street Senior Housing project, located on a corner lot in downtown Oakland, is a 73-unit affordable senior housing project.  The project construction includes a ground-level concrete podium with five stories of wood frame construction above.  Members of the Harrison Team from Pyatok Architects will discuss the approach, success, and challenges of using Revit to model this multi-family residential project.
