The Planning and Programming Section at Veteran Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) is looking for two Facility and Space Planners via our contract with Parson Brinckerhoff.

VAPAHCS is a major health care system comprising of twelve locations including three hospital-based divisions, seven community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), an administrative campus and a research campus.

The Planning and Programming Section is responsible for all facility planning and programming activities throughout VAPAHCS’ twelve locations.  The candidates will facilitate space assignment, space programing, building activation, and transition planning activities. The candidates will also be responsible for identifying needs for all Furniture, Fixture and Equipment (FF&E), plans relocation and transition “restack” and building activation “fit up”.

Candidates shall have a minimum of 5 years of experience with the management and organizational structure of hospitals and health care institutions. We are searching for experienced BIM/Revit drafters to fill multiple openings for a new high profile project at SFO.  In this position, you will be responsible for the simultaneous work on a large model as well as the seamless integration of consulting engineering design and construction model information from our consultants.  A thorough knowledge of the REVIT and AutoCAD technology is a must.

Critical experience at this level of responsibility is required in the following:

  • At least 2 complete BIM/Revit projects of similar size and complexity.
  • Expert knowledge of and proven practical background in Autodesk Revit Architecture and related BIM software.
  • Experience on a Fast-Track Construction Project larger than $20 million.

Designers will work in a variety of project types including educational, healthcare, civic, commercial and hospitality, and will participate in presentations directly to clients.

Our collaborative teams are fun, engaged, and eager to take on new challenges and responsibilities. TLCD places emphasis on professional growth and supports learning through in-house continuing education programs. We believe LEED accreditation and a path to licensure or interior design certification are important goals of a committed professional designer. We will work with you to develop your career objectives.

Project experience, involvement with proposal efforts, as well as furniture selection and procurement are preferred. Individuals with MArch, BArch, or similar professional degrees are encouraged to send qualifications. Revit and Photoshop experience is required and additional software applications are desirable.
