The American Institute of Architects, Santa Clara Valley Chapter (AIASCV) is a non-profit and largely-volunteer professional association serving over 600 members, which include licensed architects, non-licensed architectural and allied professionals, and corporate sponsors. The Chapter, with an operating budget of approximately $300,000, manages and coordinates social and professional programs and advocates for the profession through public outreach.  Its primary objectives are to provide maximum value and service to its members, as well as to represent and promote its members’ interests effectively.  The Chapter is seeking a full-time or near-full time Executive Director to lead the organization under the general direction of the President and the Board of Directors. 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate shall be an energetic, dynamic and efficient individual who has background and/or interest in design, architecture or urban planning; has strong verbal and written communication skills; has ability to delegate effectively to both staff and Chapter volunteers; and who is comfortable with social and other digital media.

Actual experience in the design industry and familiarity with the architectural profession are both strong advantages (we strongly welcome an architectural professional who may want to pursue a different career path in running an AIA chapter).  The same applies to having held executive or administrative positions in another AIA chapter or similar professional organizations.

A university degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial/leadership position are required. No relocation expenses will be provided.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Liaise effectively with the President and the Board of Directors; prepare Board report for each meeting and attend Board meetings as a non-voting member.

MWA Architects, an award winning architectural planning and design firm with offices in San Francisco, Oakland, and Portland, Oregon. We are seeking a well-rounded Project Architect to work on public infrastructure projects. This full time position will be based in our San Francisco office.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Minimum 6-10 years’ experience working in an architectural design office
  • Both design and construction documentation experience on multiple public sector projects
  • Programming, master planning, and conceptual design experience
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong graphic and presentation skills with an emphasis on 3D modeling
  • Knowledge of California codes with SF building and planning experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a large project      team
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • A professional degree in Architecture from an accredited university
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and MS Office Suite
  • LEED Accreditation preferred
  • California registration preferred
