Continuing Education

The AIA East Bay offers many events, seminars, and conferences that qualify for Learning Units (LUs) and which provide members a way of meeting the Continuing Education (CES) Requirements.Chapter meetings/Monthly Programs always qualify for at least one CES LU. To find out about other upcoming events, visit the AIA East Bay Calendar.

Architect members of the AIA are required to complete 18 hours of continuing education annually, with 8 of those in Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW). This requirement begins each January, so new members who join after January are exempt for one year.

If you accrue more than 18 CES/LUs, those extra can roll over for one year.

Many research and personal activities qualify as non-HSW units, which you can self-report here.

To get comprehensive information regarding continuing education, to check your transcript, or to find local CES providers, visit the AIA Continuing Education Program or contact AIA East Bay at 510/464-3600.

Interested in offering a lunchtime learning seminar? Please send a detailed outline of the seminar to our Program Coordinator.
