10/2/08 Lead Historic Preservation Designer.

One of the most successful and recognized architectural firms specializing in historic preservation and restoration on the West Coast is growing and changing. Based in San Francisco , with offices elsewhere in California , this firm has a goal for 2008 to improve management skills for projects of all sizes. To spearhead this effort, they are adding an experienced individual in San Francisco who is not only capable of managing projects, but who can step back from the individual assignment and generalize about systems and processes that could improve the entire firm’s project management capability.

The successful candidate will be a registered architect with some familiarity with and a passion for preservation/restoration. He or she will help develop and communicate firmwide project management systems, as well as guide the successful completion of individual projects from schematic design through construction documentation and construction administration so that each is profitable, responsive to contractual requirements, building codes and other regulations. This project management leader will work hand-in-glove with designers to execute projects that respect design intent.

The firm is mid-sized and informal-yet-serious. Staff is quite involved in the profession and the community and the firm is a marketing-oriented culture. The staff appears to be quite interested in learning, especially about the management of design. The culture is young, vibrant, and energetic.

If you have a background in preservation and seek to increase your level of responsibility while continuing to learn, this might be an important next career step for you. To initiate a confidential dialog, send your resume to Karen@breuerconsulting.com.
