ARE Seminars + Bootcamps

Studying for the ARE? The AIA East Bay can help! We offer ARE Prep Seminars and Bootcamps for candidates preparing for the ARE. Click Here for ARE 5.0 Guidelines.

AIA members and allied professionals bring their years of knowledge and experience to an informative review session for those familiar with the basic material covered in each section of the exam. At the end of each class, students evaluate the course content and materials, as well as the presenter’s knowledge and presentation skills. This ensures the quality of the program is high from year to year.

All lecture sessions will be held in the chapter office or the auditorium of the Elihu Harris State Office Building, both at 1405 Clay Street.

How can I become a member of AIA East Bay?
If you live and/or work in Alameda County, Contra Costa County, Solano County or Napa County you can join AIA East Bay. If you’re currently a member in another AIA chapter but qualify for membership in the AIA East Bay you can download a transfer form here. If you live and work outside of our chapter and wish to be a member, please contact us.

I’m a member of another AIA chapter. Why don’t I get the full AIA discount?
Members of other chapters receive member discounts; our Chapter Members receive a deeper discount.

I’m not a member of AIA East Bay, but my firm is. Do I get the chapter member rate?
Yes! If your firm is an AIA East Bay Member Firm (call 510/464-3600 x.11 to confirm), simply enter the firm’s name in the “Member Number” position of the registration form.

I registered but now I can’t make it. Can I get a refund?
Since AIA East Bay has to make a commitment to compensate the instructors, we regret we cannot give full refunds. However, you can transfer your registration to someone else, or transfer your registration to another Prep Seminar within the same calendar year. Refunds are as follows:

Refund Information:

100% refund given if cancelled more than one week  prior to class.
80% refund given if cancelled more than two days prior to class.
No refund given if cancelled two days or less prior to class.

Are food and beverages included in registration costs?
No–this helps keep seminar/bootcamp fees reasonable.

Where can I park? What’s the nearest BART Station?
We strongly recommend taking BART. We are one block from the 12th Street City Center BART station. If you decide to drive, the Clay Street Garage is now permanently closed, but there is parking available at various garages nearby, including: the Dalziel garage on 16th street between Clay and San Pablo, Downtown Merchants Parking on Franklin street between 13th and 14th, Douglas Parking on 13th street between Broadway and Franklin, and Latham Square garage on Telegraph between 16th and 17th.

Are review books included in the cost of the session?
Course materials are included in the cost of the session. However, we encourage you to supplement your preparations with the PPI/Ballast materials as well. They are available for one-week loan to all chapter members on a first-come basis. Non-members are free to use them as reference materials in the chapter office (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm). You can purchase them online.

I have more questions. Who can help me?
