Berkeley City Club Walking Tour (1.5 LU)
The Berkeley City Club building was designed by Julia Morgan and opened in 1930 to house 12 women’s clubs in Berkeley. Tour docents will provide biographical information about Morgan and historic context for the construction of this facility for women active in the early women’s movement in California. We will also discuss the beautiful architectural features culled from Morgan’s experience at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, and her ability to meld together different styles with the state of the art construction method of reinforced concrete.
Please plan to meet on the sidewalk outside the Club at 2315 Durant Avenue.
This event is limited to 30 people, so sign up in advance!
