“Building a Brighter Future”: Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club and Their New Facility

Hybrid presentation to be held at the VNBGC main offices located at 100 Holly Lane, Vacaville, CA.

Event to include a virtual and “in-person” forum describing a brief history of the VNBGC relative to local and regional organizations, the sustained growth and need for a new facility, the search for an appropriate site, selection of the design team, appropriation of funding sources, and initiation of pre-design activities (including programming). Discussion items will include results of the facility program, site selection issues, conceptual building design, the difference between rural and urban facilities, and the impact of City and County (existing and proposed) site requirements.

 
Leading up to this event, our Board President Brian Stryzek and Executive Director Mike Wilson will be joining us as part of his Presidents Listening Tour to hear from our membership in/around Vacaville about their experiences with the chapter and what they hope to see from the AIA EB moving forward. He looks forward to hearing from you, so be sure to arrive a little early!
The VNGBC team will also be hosting a small reception starting at 5:30pm prior to the official presentation, so please join us early for some tasty snacks and drinks!

About Your Speakers

Rob Henley AIA/LEED AP | Principal/Owner | A2R ARCHITECTS

With a vast and diverse portfolio of successful projects in Northern California during his 44 years in architecture, Rob is widely recognized for his highly responsive, collaborative approach and effective leadership. He has practiced in Solano County throughout his long career: as a Principal at Boles, Henley & Watson Architects between 1981 and 1984; as a Principal at TLCD Architecture from 1998 to 2009; and, prior to forming A2R Architects in 2014, was the Principal and Owner of Henley Architects + Associates.

Rob’s body of work includes many successful public, commercial, retail/office and industrial projects, bringing a thorough understanding of the design and entitlement process to each. Rob brings a responsive, proactive approach and keen sense of detail to every project he leads, large or small. He excels in creating a strong team synergy that results in highly effective decision-making and design collaboration.

As a LEED Accredited Professional, Rob is a strong advocate for responsible design and development, integrating sustainable strategies as a fundamental aspect of the design process. Rob is also a member of the USGBC and Green Business Council of Solano County.

Rob’s responsibilities in the firm include day-to-day management, marketing, programming, design and construction administration.

Michael Raymond | Member, Community Gifts Committee | Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club (VNBGC)

A retired licensed architect, Michael received his BS and his Masters of Architecture from the University of Utah. Michael is the former president of Raymond, Van Nosdol & Associates, Inc., where we worked from 1984 to his retirement in 2017.  He is a former President of AIA Central Utah, Woodland Hills City Planning Commission, and Provo City Design Review Committee. 

Anna Eaton | Chief Executive Officer | Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club (VNBGC)

Anna is the CEO of the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club where she has enjoyed challenges in the realm of non-profits while working with her staff to engage with youth ages 6-18. She recently celebrated her 10th year with the Club and is proud of fulfilling the Club’s strategic priority, to meet kids where they’re at, by enlarging the Club’s service capacity from one site to nine sites. In her prior career, Anna strengthened her youth development and service background with the City of Fairfield in the Community Resources Department.

Anna was named 11th Assembly District Woman of the Year by Assemblyman Jim Frazier and also 5th Congressional District Woman of the Year by Congressman John Garamendi for 2017. The Soroptimist International Club of Vacaville recognized her with the Ruby Award in 2021. Anna founded Starbound Theatre, now in its 19th year, to share the magic of theater with underserved youth, and the Youth Collaborative Committee that has successfully organized 6 powerful teen summits since 2015. She served on the founding committee for the Solano Commission for Women and Girls, was the Youth Program Director for the Vacaville Rotary Club in 2016-2018, Will C Wood Interact Club Adviser from 2016-2018, and is a member of the Chinese American Association of Solano County (CAASC), Asian Americans for Good Governance (AAGG) and the Vacaville Youth Roundtable.
