September Workshops on Electrical Upgrades in Building Decarbonization Session 2: Multifamily and Commercial Buildings

Oakland and San Francisco are among the many California cities on a path to eliminate natural gas use in buildings to address climate change and protect public health. In some cases, electrifying existing buildings could trigger an electric service upgrade from PG&E, including a transformer upgrade. Join us with PG&E experts to learn about the triggers for different types of electric service upgrades, the upgrade process and timeline, who is responsible for the costs, and strategies to avoid service upgrades altogether. The first workshop will focus on single-family homes, and the second will focus on multifamily and commercial buildings, including considerations specific to the secondary network system that exists in the downtown areas of San Francisco and Oakland.

Speakers:

  • Khalil Johnson, Expert Strategic Analyst, PG&E
  • Shayna Hirshfield-Gold, Climate Program Coordinator, City of Oakland
  • Barry Hooper, Senior Green Building Coordinator, City of San Francisco

These workshops are open to the public and are designed for contractors, design professionals, real estate professionals, energy consultants, and local government officials. Please bring your questions and we look forward to the discussion!
