Small Firm Forum: Designing Healthy Work Environments: Ergonomic Considerations (1.5 LU | HSW)

Highlighting ergonomic concerns, this seminar elevates awareness of ergonomic concerns and provides an overview of common musculoskeletal problems facing today’s intensive computer users. Key research developments in the areas of seating, display technology, lighting and training are discussed. Attendees will learn how ergonomics principles can be applied to workplace and home office designs in order to reduce employee discomfort and risk of injury while lowering employer costs and increasing productivity.

About the speakers:

Katie Graves, Humanscale Architectural & Design Representative, Sustainability Ambassador

Katie Graves is an A&D Representative and Sustainability Ambassador at Humanscale. Since joining Humanscale in 2016, Katie has helped solidify project wins for major accounts such as AstraZeneca, AbbVie and Credit Karma. She has also spearheaded a local Bay Area Sustainability Group that is helping to share knowledge among architects

and designers. Her latest involvement is initiating a Mindfulness Masters Workshop in San Francisco that sparks the dialog with industry experts on how to encourage mindfulness and inclusivity in the workplace.

Prior to Humanscale, Katie was Project Manager at a Knoll Dealer. After nearly three years in Project Management, Katie looked to expand her skills within sales at a company that more closely aligned with her values of health, wellness and environmental equity. Finding that opportunity at Humanscale, Katie brings a unique blend of industry know-how and enthusiasm for educating clients on health and wellness in the workplace to improve the lives of others.

Katie received her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Southern California and she currently resides in San Francisco.

Elyssa Wasserberg, DC, CEES, Humanscale Managing Consultant, Western Region

Elyssa Wasserberg holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis, and is a Certified Ergonomic Evaluator Specialist. She is currently the Managing Consultant for Humanscale Corporation for the Western Region. Prior to 

joining Humanscale, Elyssa worked as a Client Relationship Specialist for Sutter Health guiding organizations in the development of corporate wellness programs. From the very beginning of her career as a chiropractor, Elyssa has had a passion for helping people lead healthier lives. Although the corporate wellness space is evolving, the same individual behaviors continue to keep people well. The key is to create an environment that promotes these principles. Through her current role as an ergonomist and her past role as a chiropractic practitioner, Elyssa is well versed in all aspects of well-being.
