This 10 part series will be organized as followed:
Chapters 1 and 2: Administration and Definitions
- 1 hour webinar: November 4th
- Learn when you do NOT need a permit, how to challenge city procedures/interpretations, and how to use explicit definitions to your advantage.
Chapters 3, 5 and 6: Use and Occupancy classes, Height and Building Limitations
- 90 minute webinar: November 11th
- Learn how to get an extra story or two on your building without having to upgrade the entire building construction type, determine construction requirements when working on existing buildings, and how to creatively classify the use of a building or area to minimize costs for your client.
Chapter 4: Special requirements for specific occupancies
- 1 hour webinar: November 18th
- Learn about working in unique occupancies like wine caves, recording studios, and live/work spaces. Also, a few critical codes related to multi-family projects are hidden in this chapter.
Chapters 7, 8 and 9: Fire resistance and protection requirements
- 90 minute webinar: December 2nd
- Detailing fire rated assemblies is a critical part of your job. We’ll break Chapter 7 down into easily understandable elements so you can detail your project with confidence.
Chapter 10: Requirements for evacuation
- 90 minute webinar: December 9th
- Egress can make or break your project. If you only attend ONE Of our sessions, this should be the one.
Chapter 11A and 11B webinar: Accessibility requirements
- 90 minute webinar: December 16th
- ADA upgrades can be costly. Learn when they are not required and how to make the required upgrades as cost effective as possible.
Chapters 12 thru 15: Building systems and habitability
- 1 hour webinar: January 6th
- Clearly understand minimum room sizes, minimum ceiling heights, ventilation requirements, exterior wall construction requirements, and roof assembly/structure requirements.
Chapters 16 thru 23 webinar: Structural Components, performance, and stability
- 90 minute webinar: January 13th
- This seminar covers the often overlooked structural chapters in the code that architects should understand to work with their engineers more effectively. We’ll cover soil conditions, special inspection requirements, concrete, steel, masonry, and wood construction requirements so you can design smarter and save your engineers from unnecessary frustration.
Chapter 24 to end; including Appendices: Encroachments outside of property lines, safeguards during construction, referenced standards
- 1 hour webinar: January 20th
- Learn requirements for glazing, gypsum materials, and plastic uses to help you get creative in your designs. Also, learn about mechanical, electrical, and plumbing requirements, elevator requirements, special construction applications for signs, greenhouses, relocatable buildings, pools, and more. Also learn about safeguards required during construction.
Existing and Historic Building Codes –
- 1 hour webinar: January 27th
