STUDIO DIRECTOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a motivated, self starting Studio Director to help grow our Affordable Housing portfolio. The Studio Director will be a licensed Architect and have 15 plus years of design and development experience with 6 years of experience with affordable housing projects. The Studio Director will report directly to the Principal In Charge in the office in which they reside.

The ideal candidate must be a team player with a positive influence and has the ability to inspire, motivate, collaborate with and develop others, as well as be an exceptional communicator both internally and externally. He or she must have strong leadership skills while managing a team of designers and staff internally, as well as the Client and community stakeholders externally. The candidate shall be design-minded and technically inclined with excellent writing and oral communications skills and must be very organized, efficient and timely.

The Studio Director will be the primary client contact and is a lead representative of the affordable architecture studio. Promoting TCA at industry networking events, seminars and conferences is a key role for this position. This candidate must also have experience in Business Development and Client management, including development of proposals and familiarity with contracts. A solid working knowledge of affordable housing financing structures, current construction methods, procedures, and costs is a must. Some travel will be required.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 years of architectural experience required
Minimum of 6 years of experience on affordable housing projects
Familiarity with affordable housing development, asset management or property management in the public or nonprofit sector
Knowledge of programs in all aspects of Affordable Housing including: LIHTC and Affordable Use Restrictions
Fair Housing Programs
Project Based Section 8 (HUD) Housing Assistant Program
Tax Exempt Bond Financing
Joint Venture Partnerships Asset Management
Community based supportive services
Construction administration experience preferred
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required
California licensed Architect required
Member of AIA & other professional organizations
Position Location:

The Architectural Studio Director can be located in Irvine, Los Angeles or our Oakland office.
