The Design Tours Committee offers a wide range of tours and tour types for AIA East Bay members and the public. The committee’s mission is to plan tours of places notable for their design, led by the architects (ideally) and/or project team members that made them possible, for, depending on the tour, our AIA membership community, the broader design and construction community, and the general public. We plan MONTHLY tours (i.e. at least once a month) throughout the year from February through November. We also pause tours around our sister committee’s (the Home Tours Committee) ANNUAL events (eg. last year’s month of Shelter, exploring all the places we call home) to help, as needed, coordinate with and support their efforts.
Most tours are led by either the Architect, Designer or Owner of the site and allow attendees to “look under the hood” and have a dialogue with the people responsible for design and business decisions. If you are interested, please fill out our online form here.
