We have an opportunity for a highly motivated, organized, and creative individual to fill the role of an Intermediate Level Designer. This is a career position and requires a sharp, flexible, energetic, and eager individual with design industry experience to complement our creative team. We are seeking candidates who are inspired by the legacy of modern architecture and have an interest in environmentally sensitive design.

Ideal candidates will have great communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work on a wide range of tasks and responsibilities at a variety of intensities with all staff and outside connections. Reliability, curiosity, visional oriented, teachable, organizational skills, and a collaborative spirit are vital to this position.

 

This is a full-time, on-site position for candidates with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an architectural firm, and ideally some experience in interior design.

 

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Hands-on support of projects and team members from schematics through construction administration
  • Working with the Principal and team members to prepare 2D and 3D design documents (Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp modeling, hand drawing)
  • Creating, editing, and overseeing production of construction drawing sets
  • Project correspondence, schedule, and budget
  • Code research (planning and building)
  • Research and specify materials and systems
  • Assist with creating InDesign presentation sheets for Client presentations.
  • Assist in the research, selection, and documentation of the overall interiors packages – including writing of specifications and purchase orders.
  • Collaborate with staff and principal on projects.
  • Assist with design process – sourcing, implementation, and installation.
  • Assist in the Interior finish material selection – Furniture and fabric selection.
  • Assist with fixture and equipment selection.
  • Create budgets, proposals, schedules.
  • Interface with vendors, sales representatives, craftspeople. Correspond with vendors regarding orders and order follow up as well as sample requests.
  • Oversee project tasks: sourcing for materials; getting quotes from vendors; mailings to vendors/clients.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited US architecture school
  • CA Licensure or enrolment with NCARB, participation in IDP and active pursuit of licensure, preferred
  • Candidate possesses advanced communication skills for client interaction and team leadership – ability to lead client presentations with ease
  • Candidate is self-motivated – able to work independently, with a team and the Principal
  • Past experience coordinating work with consultants & contractors, including references who will speak to this ability
  • Construction Administration experience on job sites
  • Working knowledge of CBC (California Building Code)
  • Excellent graphic, rendering, and verbal communication skills are a must
