Making a House a Home (1.5 LU)

Join Small Firm Forum for a discussion on everything that goes into making a space a “home”!

The creation of “home” is a deep seated core to the essence of architectural development and the urban, rural or hybrid context within which it is set. The group will discuss the ‘tools” needed to create homes that encourage personal, familial and communal growth.

We will discuss as a group how to elevate any residential project from the basic scope requirements given us by the client to a sense of place that promotes humanity, warmth and spirit. There will be a deep dive into the true meaning of Firmness, Commodity & Delight within the context of creating space for people to live their best lives together.

About Our Speaker

Alex Bergtraun, Principal of Studio Bergtraun Architects (SBA) has been practicing architecture for over 40 years. SBA has enjoyed working in many varied building typologies but single family homes have always deeply resonated within the firm’s project portfolio. It has been the Studio’s heartfelt belief that architecture can be created to offer a beautiful framework for the enhancement of the lives of those who live and work within and around it.
