About Your Speaker
Obie Bowman FAIA, Architect
Obie grew up in the San Fernando Valley where as a youth he witnessed the replacement of the agrarian landscape and Los Angeles River with desolate suburbanization and a concrete flood channel. This experience crystallized a conundrum with which he has struggled ever since: a passion for architecture and distress over the loss of the natural landscape. Following college and working for Los Angeles architects, he moved to the Mendocino/Sonoma Coast in the 1970s and began practicing architecture at The Sea Ranch. His studio is now in the Dry Creek Valley where he continues to work thoughtfully and creatively.
