REIMAGINING URBAN LIVING IN OAKLAND’S AUTO ROW
This unique mixed-use project blends hotel and multifamily housing uses with a shared entrance, lobby, and other amenities. The Hotel Lounge, Café, Roof Bar and other spaces are conceived as extensions of the neighborhood. Glass, metal, and brick are brought together in a contemporary palette deeply respectful of Broadway Auto Row’s historically industrial neighborhood. A vertical composition of soaring windows and suspended glass fins emphasizes the building’s shared primary entry, while also referencing theater marque signs of the neighborhood. The residential lobby features rotating art exhibits and social ‘maker’s’ work table provide opportunities for social gatherings.

About Your Tour Guide
Principal Jeff Goodwin, AIA, LEED AP, brings over 35 years of architectural design experience to BAR Architects, with a specialization in the design of wineries, clubhouses and hospitality facilities. Since joining the firm in 1986, he has been responsible for all phases of a project, from initial programming and conceptual design to the preparation of construction documents and administration of the project during construction.
Jeff has designed numerous 4-star hotels, dozens of wineries and nearly as many clubhouses over the span of this career. Regardless of project type, he always strives to find creative solutions to each unique site and the client’s program goals. Jeff’s design process embraces a collaborative approach and incorporating sustainable practices, including integration of existing historic structures, whenever possible. His projects have been extremely well received by the surrounding communities and honored by numerous book publications and industry design awards
Jeff received his Bachelors of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 1986.
