Professional Practice – In Conversation with Small Firm Leaders
Please join us on May 11th for in-person conversation with the principals of three accomplished entrepreneurial architecture firms in the Bay Area: Mahya Salehi Studio, Ogawa Fisher Architects, and Síol Studios. This will be a moderated panel discussion focusing on the business practice of these unique, award winning and dynamic firms.
About the Firms
Mahya Salehi Studio creates engaging spaces for ambitious clients in the Bay Area and beyond. The multi-disciplinary team of Architects, Interior Designers, and visual artists are led by Creative Director and Principal, Mahya Salehi, AIA. The Studio’s projects range from single-family remodels to multi-family ground-up construction, commercial and educational facilities. By implementing a holistic approach to Spatial Design, the Architects and Designers plan and manage the project roadmap from start to finish, with no detail left unnoticed. Through this intimate design journey, functional and responsive spaces are conceived and enriched with sophisticated and personable interiors.
Ogawa Fisher Architects has over 20 years of experience successfully executing detail-oriented projects. The firm uses a modern design language to form spaces that are warm, joyful, light-filled, and timeless: a backdrop on which personal and intimate moments can unfold. Their process is anchored by a thoughtful schematic design process, continues through design development and documentation, and is brought to life through hands-on construction observation. As a diverse and international design team, they find inspiration in nature, art, music, good design, beautiful objects, humor, and delicious food.
Síol Studios was founded in 2007 on the shared belief that space can be transformational. Principals Jessica Weigley, Kevin Hackett, and Robo Gerson work in the intersection of architecture, interior design, landscape, and client services as they create designs that address history, the individual and the collective, and our innate senses. Their practice currently has outposts on the East and West Coasts.
As a practice, Síol works interdisciplinarily. The firm places a special focus on staff fulfillment and buy-in, working to create teams that are well-supported, where individuals can best contribute their strengths and expertise. Síol’s work is narrative-driven; each aspect of a project is linked via a single conceptual thread that affects everything from the way bowls sit on a shelf in the kitchen to how the roof plane meets a wall. The studio is also a leader in post-occupancy practices, providing clients with concierge services that help them transition into their space, as well as adapt it as they grow into it.
