This program will focus on how architects can manage the risk that is associated with providing professional services to clients. The presenter is a lawyer with over 30 years’ experience in representing architects, engineers, and other design professionals in all aspects of their practices.
The practice of architecture involves more than the design of buildings and spaces, it involves the running of a business. Part of running a successful business is managing the risk that the business takes on when providing services to clients. This seminar focuses on identifying the unique risks that architects, urban planners, engineers and other design professionals face in their daily practices and how to successfully manage that risk.
About Your Speaker
Peter Molgaard is a lawyer with over 25 years’ experience in representing of architects, engineers, and other design professionals. He has a degree in architecture from UC Berkeley and his law degree from the University of the Pacific. His goal as an attorney is to help architect, engineers, and other design professionals negotiate the complexities of legal and business issues so they can focus on their practices. Mr. Molgaard is an Martindale-Hubbell “AV”-rated attorney.
The primary focus of his practice is:
• Transactional Counseling and Document Preparation: Including the analysis, formation and negotiation of both design and construction contracts.
• Risk Management and Loss Prevention Advice and Seminars: Advising clients on loss prevention and pre-claim dispute resolution issues, and the use of mechanics’ liens.
• Business Formation: The formation, merger, acquisition and dissolution of business entities, including partnerships, corporations, limited liability partnerships and limited liability companies; the preparation of stock option, stock purchase and buy-sell agreements; and counseling of clients concerning general business issues such as fee collection.
• Construction Litigation: Mr. Molgaard has represented design professionals, construction managers, and developers in construction defect and delay claims.
